Scotrail has a new app. The old one is now obsolete and can't be updated or used.
If you have an account with Scotrail, you will have to reset your password. Be patient. It takes awhile to get the reset link. (It took me nearly two hours.)

Any pre-purchased tickets (before last night) remain on the old app, which will not cease to function until 21 October 2026.
In fact you need to use the barcoded pre-purchased tickets through the old app, not the new one-

By all accounts the new app is shocking, it makes the new GWR app actually look competent, and the website is very little better. The list of things the app can't or isn't doing is as long as your arm, of which one of the most basic failures is that it isn't accepting railcards most of the time, or when it is is asking for the number in the wrong format.
The search for station names or train times even is very counter intuitive.

You can access any pre-purchased tickets on the Scotrail website.
I just tried to do a search with the new app including a senior railcard. No problem. The app had some teething problems earlier today but they seem to be working out the kinks. Scotrail has acknowledged this.
The nice thing is you can now use Paypal, Apple Pay or Google Pay to purchase tickets on the new app. If you want to use a stored credit card, you will have to re-enter it.
After playing with it a bit, the new app seems much easier to use than the old one. I've always felt that the Scotrail app was one of the better train apps in the UK.
Give it a day or so.
