Yes, this are good news indeed. They will introduce more trains on the route in March (including some branching off to Switzerland). Finally, with these new trains they retired the slow night train on the route.

Well it still is a 6.5 hour train trip,, which for me is too long.. ( having found that 5.5 on the Paris -Nice train run was long enough for me) ... and the flight is only 1.5 hours long ( and it even with airport stuff was still a much shorter travel day then 6.6 hours) ,, but apparently once they finish some other track work in next few years they anticipate getting the journey down to Paris-Barcelona in 5.5 hours.. that I can manage..lol .. so perhaps in a few years we will try that method.

Would like to hear back from some folks who have done the new train and let us know how it is!

The rolling stock used on the line are TGV Duplex Dayse that are used in routes from Paris to Swtizerland.

Another very important advantage of this line are also high-speed trains to Marseille and Toulouse, which will help a lot travel between Barcelona, Madrid and those French cities, something that was too much time-consuming until now.

So what is the total door-to-door time difference when you consider all factors flying versus taking the train? Surely pretty modest not counting the comfort elements.
