I'm not sure this offer is bookable within US, so asking never hurts (not my case, but for a friend). Starting yesterday, Eurostar (UK site) has launched a new discounted train fare London-Amsterdam of £ 49 one-way, £ 79 round-trip, using Eurostar trains to reach Bruxelles-Midi then Thalys to reach Amsterdam. Apart for the slightest lower price, this offer sounds really good value because it use Thalys for the Bruxelles-Amsterdam sector, which are nice trains travelling on a new high-speed line (opened 2009) instead of crappy Intercity trains. Then, you have your seats reserved all the way, and, frankly, Thalys trains can't even be compared to that old train. It is also 1h23 FASTER between Bruxelles and Amsterdam. Now, the question: has anyone in US been able to see, or book, that fare?
I can see it but I didn't attempt to purchase, as my trip is not firm yet but was able to take the process through to the point of entering names. I plugged in mid-January 2011 dates. Am I wrong or is this a great price? Thanks for pointing it out.
Sounds pretty good to me. I can't get there that cheap even using my staff discounts.
