New Global Entry app

For those that have Global Entry.....the CPB has launched a new app that will allow you to bypass the Global Entry kiosks on arrival and go straight to an officer for processing. It's only good at a few airports for now but should be rolled out at to others in the future.

Interesting. Thanks for posting.

Not available at ORD, but in my last two entries in the last 6 months, I haven't paused more than 5 seconds at a kiosk for biometrics before being waved through by CBP agent. The entire immigration process has taken less than 3 minutes. If that continues, I don't see a personal need for an app.

I have only re-entered the US through Chicago O'Hare - no experience with other domestic airports' customs set-ups or procedures. Are some ports of entry short of kiosks or have other factors that slow down the GE entry process? In past years at ORD, I have occasionally had to wait for one or two persons to scan their passport at the kiosks as was part of the entry procedure several years back. Since ORD has installed biometrics, there has been no wait, even when I arrived at busy high season July.

Thanks a lot Frank! I just downloaded it although I'm not traveling any time soon.

I come back in thru Seattle so this will work.

My experience on Aug 31 coming thru Seattle was absolutely amazing. So quick, direct to the GE counter. I was first off the plane and first to Immigration since I did not have to wait for baggage. He did customs as well and it was literally 1 minute as opposed to the difficult time I've had before.

Still, I'll use this next time I travel!

Cool, thanks Frank. My experience at SeaTac a few weeks ago was similar to Pam’s. Very quick and easy. But quicker and easier is even better,

No JFK. No ATL. Pittsburgh?

The other 6 airports have substantial international traffic especially since all except for Orlando are hub airports.

Agree - Entering ORD kiosks are always available, no waiting, even during busy times. Will be entering ORD in October. Surprised it is available at Orlando but not ORD

Just so people do not have to go hunting for the list:

The Global Entry Mobile Application will initially be available for use by travelers arriving at seven airports:

Seattle Tacoma International Airport,
Los Angeles International Airport,
Miami International Airport,
Orlando International Airport,
Washington Dulles International Airport,
Pittsburgh International Airport, and
George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

CBP will continue to evaluate and expand the use of the app at airports where Global Entry processing occurs in the future.

For those who drive between the US and Canada the CBP is encouraging GE holders to also download the app for land crossings. I just drove back to the US via the Peace Arch crossing between British Columbia and Washington. I was in the Nexus lane but as I looked over to the “regular” lanes the reader board was recommending the app.

WOW! Making what is usually a very quick process even faster. Is this the US government? (HA)
