Starting Dec 9th German and Austrian rail will introduce a new high speed train link from Dortmund via the Ruhr area, Cologne, Koblenz, Frankfurt, Würzburg, Nuremberg, Passau, Linz to Vienna. Every Saturday there will be a new high speed train link from Dortmund via Ruhr area, Cologne, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (total time savings of 2 1/2 hours compared to the old connection). Also new is that every ICE high speed train between Düsseldorf and Berlin now stops at Düsseldorf airport, too. The TGV high speed train from Paris via Strasbourg to Stuttgart will be extended to Munich.
