Starting in March TGV high-speed service between Marseille via Lyon, Strasbourg, Karlsruhe (for Baden-Baden and Black Forrest) and Mannheim to Frankfurt am Main, Germany, will be introduced. Total journey time from Marseille to Frankfurt will be only 6 hours!
Unfortunately, March is more than 92 days out, so we can't see if there will be a Europa-Spezial fare for that journey. If so it should start at €39, Marseille to Frankfurt.
Will it be Duplex TGVs, do you know, Andreas? Many are that are on the Lyon - Cote d'Azur run. TGV-Est? I wonder where they got the trains? Thanks for the info...
In the beginning it'll be two TGV 2N2 per day, eventually three DB German Rail ICE 3rd generation will be added - but due to a delivery delay from Siemens that won't happen until later that year.
That's really great to hear. Being able to go from the Cote d'Azur/Provence to Alsace easily will be a real boon. I hope that order for ICE3 doesn't get in the way of the next batch of 350s heading to the UK. Thanks for the tip-off.
