We used page 1075 in Rick Steves' Italy 2019 book to find: Francesco del Pizzo! He was professional, informative, and gracious in all his emails to me before we left. He suggested we tour Pompeii with his sister-in-law (Libby) as our guide and that we have lunch at a winery at a winery in the Park of Mount Vesuvius. Our friends agreed to do this, so we did!
After a disaster in Palermo with transfer from the airport to Del Centro (manager NEVER sent us the transfer agreed on our reservation: DO NOT STAY HERE. This hotel should be removed from the Sicily book), we were delighted to find Francesco waiting at the Naples Airport for us! AND he was so kind that he assisted two other travelers from our Rick Steves' Sicily tour to their hotel in Pompeii after he dropped us off for our tour of Pompeii with Libby!
She was so informative of Pompeii and really new how to maneuver around the site. You know how good Rick Steves' guides are? Libby is that caliber. Then Francesco took us to the winery at the foothills of Mount Vesuvius. It made the trip to the Amalfi Coast so much more memorable. The tour was nice. The wine was great. The luncheon was delicious. And the views were magnificent!
On the way to our hotel in Minori (Hotel Santa Lucia---what a gem!), Francesco guided us on the history and sites on the Amalfi Coast. Unfortunately, his son was ill on the day of our transfer back to the Naples' airport, but he provided another excellent driver who shared history once again.
I cannot tell you how much we appreciated everything Francesco del Pizzo did for us! We give him a 10 out of 10. You won't regret hiring him.
