Need info about taking a taxi from CDG to Paris

Hello -

I'm going to be flying to Charles de Gaulle airport with 3 other adults and we're trying to figure out transportation into Paris. I have a couple of questions:

  1. Can all 4 of us (and our bags -- not too big) fit in one taxi or will we need 2?

  2. The Rick Steves book indicates that a taxi runs about 55 euros to get from the airport to Paris. Is that cost per person or per taxi?

I'm just trying to figure out what the total cost will be for the 4 of us so I can decide between the taxi option and other transportation options.

Thanks!

thanks for the responses! we did consider taking a shuttle, but we're traveling with my (somewhat) elderly parents and i'm trying to keep things simple and easy (in terms of waiting, transfers, etc). so i thought a taxi would be a good option.

the other option we were considering is the recommendation from the rick steves book about taking a bus to l'opera and then taking a taxi to our hotel. but i'm willing to pay extra for the convenience of a taxi, as long as it's not a HUGE amount extra.

FYI, the fare for the Roissybus from CDG to Opera is €8.90.

Four would probably be uncomfortable with luggage in your lap. Now you might be able to sag one of the bigger sedans or you can arrange for van in advnace. The 55E would be for the taxi. Depending on time of day, it could be a long trip.

Cloud, if you each have a small to medium sized suitcase and one carry-on size bag, it's no problem getting into one cab. Our family of four has done this route probably a dozen times in the last few years, always in one taxi and never with luggage in the lap. At the taxi stand they size up the number of passengers and luggage and sometimes direct you to a minivan size taxi which is the same base price.

Naturally if one or more of your party enjoys traveling with one of those armoire-sized suitcases, one taxi won't work.

Have you considered a shuttle service? I always use
a shutttle, as they pick you up in a designated area
after calling when you arrive before picking up luggage. I have had good luck with this transportation. You could also take a train depending on how much luggage you have and where your
Paris destination is?

A taxi is a good option, but if it takes two , it is not an option I would consider. I am elderly and the shuttle bus is no problem for me. Only need is for help in loading my luggage, but that happens only once!

If I had your choice to make I would take the cheaper bus with more room and comfort than being packed into a single taxi.
