Need help understanding Deutsche Bahn price fluctuations

I was preparing to book on the Deutsche Bahn website for the City Night Line "Europa-Spezial Tschechien" Prague to Frankfurt at 138,00 EUR for a pair of tickets. When I went to buy the tickets, the page had reset and I had to start the search over again only to find that in the last couple of hours the special pricing was gone. The current price is now 224,40 for a pair.

Does anyone know if the prices on the DB website fluctuate back down, or do they only ever go up? In other words, what are the reasonable chances that the price could go back down?

I'm trying to weigh the risk of holding out for the lower price I saw earlier today, or if should just book them ASAP at the current price before the price either increases or the trip sells out.

Thanks!

We have just booked our tickets on the DB site. It was definitely more than we had hoped to pay (and we had better really looooove Prague! ha ha). Based on the risk involved in waiting to buy tickets in Prague, and the unlikelihood of DB's ticket prices going back down for the specific train we needed, I think we made the best choice.

Thanks for your help!!

From the Bahn website for Europa-Spezial fares, "Solange der Vorrat reicht." (As long as the supply lasts)

I think these are like the tiered pricing on airline tickets. They have a few very inexpensive tickets for each train, then some more expensive ones, etc. When the lowest price tickets sell out, they're gone.

I guess, theoretically, if they had not sold many tickets for that particular train, they could offer more low priced tickets, but I don't think that ever happens.
