We will be in Rome for 4 nights, at a house in Tuscany for 7 nights and then in Venice for 4 nights. If we want a car for the time we're renting in Tuscany should we rent in Rome and drop off in Venice or rent in Rome and drop off in Florence and take a train to Venice? Also what are the most helpful car companies to rent from? Thanks for any help!
Autoeurope books cars through numerous rental agencies throughout Italy. They're open 24/7 with very helpful agents who work from Maine. A lot of people train out of Rome and pick up a car in Orvieto, depending on travel schedules and office hours. That allows them to miss the worst of Rome traffic. Once you have the rental car, I would drive all the way to Venice and drop there. It's very easy to drive in because the road dead ends at the Piazzale Roma where the rental agencies are. It's freeway all the way. That way you don't have to mess with Florence.
