If you've taken the train from any of those cities to Milan, can you tell me the train you'd recommend, theapproximate time it takes, and the cost. Also, does it stop in or near Lake Como? Thank you.
Hi Mike,
I recommend you take a look at the Deutsche Bahn website, as you will be able to get train timetables from all over Europe. It will also tell you the prices of trains that originate in Germany.
When you do a search, it will come up with a list of trains. You can click the arrow on the left-hand side to get more details about that train, including all the intermediary stops.
Mike, we took the train from Zurich to Como (direct). We stayed in Como two days and took the train from Como to Venice, connecting in Milan. It was easy and inexpensive and quite fast. www.trenitalia will give you the schedules and can purchase tickets. Just be sure that you do not do as I did and buy tickets that can only be picked up in Italy if you are not going to be in Italy (very dumb). B/c of this mistake I simply replaced the tickets by buying them at the Zurich station. They were first class tickets and cost about $100.00 for both-- I advised trenitalia of my mistake via email and they refunded my tickets that I did not use.
