We are arriving MXP and wish to train to Florence--Is this process correct:
MXP to Milan Centrale
Milan Centrale to Firenze S.M. Novella
If so, what is the best way/train to get to Milan Centrale? It appears that the airport express serves other stains…
The Malpensa Express will take you from the airport to Milan Centrale. Here's the website:

The express is the best and cheapest way to Centrale-cost is 10E one way however, I think you can get a slight discount if you buy a round trip ticket.
It made 4-5 stops prior to reaching Centrale, however, the total trip is around 45 minutes point to point. They do check tickets so make sure you validate your ticket--you can right by the ticket counter at the airport station before you go dowstairs to board.
By the way, a taxi is 99E one way to Milan from MXP.

Could you confirm whether you're arriving at MXP on a flight from the U.S., or from another airport in Europe? That will have some bearing on your transportation options.

Jennifer, a few years ago, the Malpensa Express only went from MXP to the Cadorna train station. Only buses went from MXP to Milano Centrale. All that has changed. You can now take the train from MXP to Milano Centrale. Just make sure that you have the destination correct.
