Hello, my two teens and I are planning to fly Chicago to Munich and then Amsterdam to Chicago. I'm very torn on which tickets to purchase. I have the United credit card and so lean somewhat towards purchasing tickets from them, but from what I can tell, tickets are $1361 on United (nonstop) and don't seem to be budging. Aer Lingus has flights (one stop in Dublin each direction) for much less ($876), but the connection in Dublin is short (2 hours) and that always makes me nervous. Plus no points and extra perks from the credit card. Iceland Air has even cheaper prices, but it looks like the prices don't include meals, checked bags, etc, and the connection time is 55 minutes, which I think is just much too short for comfort.
So what do you all think? I have to admit that I am a bit high maintenance, so I would love feedback on all three options in terms of comfort, etc. Are the cheaper flights not as nice or is it just the connections we will have to deal with? Flying Economy on United is miserable imho, so if it's even worse than that, I'm not sure I can handle it haha.
Also, our final destination is Augsburg, so if there is another cheaper airport (other than Munich), I am very open to that. Thanks for any help you guys can provide!!!
