must-visit places in canada and transport insights

Has anyone here been to any of the places on this list - https://faze.ca/top-must-visit-places-in-canada/? I'd love to hear what's really worth visiting from it, as I'm not very familiar with Canada. Also, I'm interested in learning more about transport in Canada and perhaps other places worth visiting.

This is a list of most of the top tourist destinations in Canada; the only one I’ve not heard of is the casino in Montreal - not being interested in gambling I would not visit Montreal for that reason alone. But would for its history, its French culture, it’s food…..

You would be best to stick to one region at a time as Canada is so big. So you could consider Toronto, Niagara Falls, Montreal and add on Ottawa the capital of the country and Quebec City. That would make a good introduction to the English and French cultures and history.

Banff, Jasper and Vancouver give you the mountains and the Northwest Coast, spectacular scenery and wild life. Add on Calgary during the Stampede for a glimpse ofCanada’s cattle ranching past, and oil industry present. The foothills of southern Alberta are full of interesting towns, sites and scenery. Drumheller for dinosaur country comes to mind.

Then there is the north…Churchill, Manitoba, polar bear capital of the world; Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and Whitehorse and Dawson City in the Yukon for memories of the gold rush, miners, outlaws and the like.

Because of long distances travel across the country, is usually done by train or plane. Look at the Via rail website to get an idea of how long it takes to travel from say Vancouver to Toronto or Montreal. A vehicle is essential for touring most regions.

The list also missed the Maritimes and Newfoundland, a beautiful, diverse and interesting area. The Prairies - eastern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

I think this article must have been written by AI, if the story about Vancouver is anything to go by. Boya Lake (in Vancouver, it says) is close to 2000 km away (though still in BC). Strathcona Park is on Vancouver Island, a 1 hour, 40 minute ferry ride and a couple of hours driving away from Vancouver. Whale watching is better done off Vancouver Island, not Vancouver.
There are lots of good things to see in and around Vancouver - Stanley Park, harbour cruises, Granville Island market (and other markets), hiking on nearby hiking trails on the north shore and up towards Squamish, bike trails to ride, gondolas to ride up to great views.
Also, Tofino is described as laid back. Maybe, but it is pretty touristy and very expensive. You aren’t really getting away from it all to go to Tofino. Much as I love it there…

What a poor article. Canada is huge and has so much more to it than the few places mentioned. But you might want want to put your question in the correct forum (Beyond Europe), and be more specific about your interests, if you want more responses. Your question is way too broad.

I agree: a dreadful article full of misinformation.
“Canada’s Casino Scene” ???
What rubbish!

If you want to visit Canada, you could start with the local tourist information centres in each province.
You can look them up on line.
For example, here is one:

We are an enormous country, so best to visit it in chunks rather than trying to see too much in one trip

It’s interesting that this website is Toronto, Canada based. Having said that, its focus seems to be interests for young women. While the article references a few good places to explore, some of the details are inaccurate as mentioned by others. Montreal in particular is shortchanged.

I apologise to everyone, I stumbled upon this article by chance and posted it here as an example. Perhaps you have a better article, or maybe you have your own list of things worth visiting in Canada? I would be glad to explore

Ugh. Pretty much useless website of generic 'information' sounding cobbled together from any of number of so-called 'travel' sites, and at least one link to a package-tour agency I've never heard of and can't even find any reviews for: wouldn't touch it.

I'd steer clear of anything labeled 'best of', 'must visit', 'must see' or similar. Travel styles and interests are individual; one person's heaven can be another's hell. Case in Point? Las Vegas. Very popular destination that the DH and I can't stand longer than to get the rental car at the airport and hit the road to better (for us) places. We even avoid having to use the airport if at all possible. Obviously, a casino in Canada would be ANYTHING but a must-visit for us. We don't ski, have no real interest in Niagara Falls, hotels with waterparks....

There are no 'worth it' places either unless they appeal to you.

If you're interested in Canada (Where do you live, BTW?), search for sources that focus on the things you are interested in versus what generic articles produced by unknown individuals with no apparent firsthand experience tell you are 'must visits'. Buy a guidebook for the country, spend some time with it, mark destinations that appeal and then research them further via their own websites.

No need to apologize!
You did not write the article after all.
As I said, a good place to start is looking at the individual tourist websites for each province.
Don't try and see the whole country in one trip though!
Cousins of mine came from England years back, didn’t ask me for any help, then complained that the country was too big with too much driving.
They drove hundreds of kms every day and stayed one night in each place.
Saw nothing.
