Hi: I will be travelling from Murren to Milan on Sept 25th/Tue. Can you please advise me what is the best way and will my swiss pass will work till Milan. I checked on SBB site. This is what i am planning, i can start by Murren,BLM to Spiez at 7.06am. It will reach Spiez at 8.21am. I can spend some time siteseeing Spiez. Start from Spiez to Milan central at 14.05 reaching Milan at 16.38. This seems to be a direct train without any stops/connection at Brig or Domodossola.
If it is a direct train from Spiez to Milan will my Swiss pass will work till Milan or what i need to do. Please help.
OK, now you have that settled, let's pop back up to the other part of your question. What are you going to do in Spiez for nearly 6 hours? I've been there - dozens of times - and while it is a very nice place I can't see nearly 6 hours between trains as an opportunity to do much. You could take the boat from Interlaken instead of the train but it is really steep and takes nowhere near 6 hours. You could wander in Spiez for an hour or two - I don't get the rest of the time. OH - BTW - don't try to get complete train information from RailEurope. Use the SBB or DB and drill down.
Your train stops at Visp, Brig, Domodossola, Stresa. Per previous posts, Swiss pass is only good as far as Domodossola.
I wanted to confirm if there is a direct train from Spiez to Milan.
I see "direct" on SBB and also on RailEurope site but cannot find any traveller or travelling forums talk about it so i am not sure if i am seeing wrong becaue if connections are required Sbb generally list them but for this train at 14.05 it does'nt list any connection.
The 14:05 train (EC 57) is a direct train.
Thanks for confirming.
If it is a direct train, can i use my swiss pass on it or do i need to purchase separate ticket for the Italy portion of the journey. Since it is a direct train where i will be purchasing the ticket for the italy journey.
You can buy your ticket from Muerren to Milan at Lauterbrunnen or Interlaken Ost. Just show your pass to the agent. They will make the approriate fare adjustments as well as your seat assignments. At Spiez, take the nice EuroCity 57 train recommended by Tim and that's it. Not to worry once you are on the EC train.
Got it. Thanks you all for your help.
