One more train question... We need a train from Munich to Venice in July. It is posted, with a fare, on bahn.de, and I can go all the way through to payment before it stops me and says there are no reservations available on the mandatory reservation train. The train we are looking at has one change in Verona. I was able to choose seats on the Munich - Verona leg, but not the Verona - Venice leg. I figured that the tickets weren't available from Verona - Venice yet, but when I checked on Trenitalia, they were. Any thoughts? I will be beyond glad when that ticket is booked because then we'll be done dealing with the trenitalia (or any other train) site!
I believe you need to buy the Verona to Venice leg on Trenitalia. Bahn.de does not sell it as that is an Italian train. Bahn.de will show the schedule but won't sell you a ticket for the train that is entirely in Italy.
Lola nailed it. If you already have your ticket for the Munich-Verona leg, this won't do you any good, but there are five of those Munich-Verona ECs per day (every 2 hrs from 7:31). One of them (the one that leaves Munich at 11:31) goes on to Venice, and you could have booked it all the way through to Venice, with reservations. But maybe the times weren't right for you.
Thanks! We may still book the one that goes straight through to Venice -- we were just hoping to arrive in Venice earlier. So, as I understand it, I book Munich-Verona on bahn.de and then book the Verona - Venice on trenitalia. Can do...assuming trenitalia cooperates with me :)
