Munich to Vicenza

What is the most efficient rail service from Munich to Vicenza? We prefer to travel by day and not by night. We are reviewing all the rail sites available on the computer but wondered if anyone has first hand experience with this connection. Thanks so much.

First, try the Bahn website. There are German Eurocity (EC) day trains from Munich to Verona, and one even goes all the way to Venice. (Vicenza is on the way between Verona and Venice.) With advance purchase you can get seats on this train to Verona or Vicenze for €39 pP. If that train goes all the way to Venice, just get off in Vicenza. If it doesn't, you'll have to buy an Italian Rail ticket from Verona to Vicenza (€3,90 by regional train, €13,50 by Eurostar) in Verona (or from German Rail in Munich).

Donna, To add to the information Lee mentioned, the information on rail trips for that particular route is shown on the bahn.de website. On that particular trip, I'd use the train departing at 07:31 (according to the current schedules), arriving at 13:50 (time 6H:19M, one change at Verona Porta Nuova). If you're using P-P tickets, you might consider stopping by the EurAide office in Munich station, as the English speaking staff should be able to provide the tickets and answer any questions you might have. The trains on that route travel through the Brenner Pass, and I always enjoy the scenery there.

The 7:31 connection requires a change of trains in Verona and an extra fare from Verona to Vicenza, but gets into Venice a few hours earlier. However, of the five trains (7:31/9;31/11:31/13:31, and 15:31), the €39 fares are already sold out for a month from now on two trains, so it might depend on when you purchase you ticket, what's available, and what you are willing to pay.

You don't need to check all the rail sites available on the computer. The Bahn site will do it all.

Vernon,
We will travel by train to our hotel in Vicenza. The next day we will visit Venice and then train back to our hotel. Hope that helps you give us advice. Thanks so much.
