The Rick Steves map of time and cost says that the trip from Munich to Ljubljana is 100$ and takes 7 hours. I found here http://www.ap-ljubljana.si/eng that the bus trip should take 5.5 hours (the schedule isn't so nice though... it leaves around 8pm and arrives at 1am in Ljubljana). Is the bus really faster or it's just a mistake? Does anyone know where I can find the fares for that bus trip?
The train is probably that fast too and also could be less than $100. Check the Deutsche Bahn website.

When I checked this route by train earlier this year, the time was around 6 hours and they had special fares for around 30 Euro.
Vanessa, the fare by bus Munich/Ljub runs about 48Euro, and as you already found out, oddball schedules getting you there in the middle of the night. Play around on the Eurolines website (you don't want the UK one) and you'll get the info you need once you navigate the language issue. Just keep clicking on the Union Jack flag (upper right) when the site all of a sudden switches to German or Slovene.
Thanks to the both of you!
I guess I'll just check again closer to my departure date and choose from there.
