The last leg of our monthlong trip ; myself, son, and daughter. Munich on 7/18 and home on7/28 we have already decided to spend two nights in Amsterdam 7/24-7/26. Then to Brussels where we will be flying home from. My question what not to miss in Germany. Would like to see the castles and Dachau. Thinking of renting a car and driving in Germany. Where to stop?

eileen, I think this question would get more answers in the "to the west" section. If you want to rent a car driving in Germany is fairly easy, but you could easily use the trains also. If you plan on spending at least a couple of nights in Munich then it looks like you have about 4 nights? You could do the castles as a day trip from munich, or preferrably you could spend a night or 2 in that area. I would choose the town based on whether or not you have a car. You could then either spend a couple days on the Rhine or Mosel, and / or a night in Rothenburg. I would suggest taking a look at Rick's Germany guide book.
