Munich public transit 3 day partner ticket

Traveling from Italy to Munich, at what point would we purchase this ticket, does it cover towns in Baveria and would we use it to get from our last stop Munich, to the airport?

You can find out everything about tickets in the Munich metro (MVV) here, on the MVV site, in English. Unfortunately, the fare prices shown in English are still last years prices. This years are shown on the German side of the site. You must be looking at a 3 day Partner Tageskarte (day ticket). For €23,70, that is a pass valid for up to 5 people for 3 consecutives days (until 6 AM the fourth day) for travel by any public conveyances in the inner zone of the Munich metro district (MVV). The inner zone includes everything in Munich people usually see except Dachau. It is not valid to the airport. You can also purchase a one day Partner Tageskarte for the inner zone for €10,20. For the airport, a Gesamtnetz Partner Tageskarte, for €20, is valid for the entire Munich metro district for up to 5 people, but only for one day. If you are spending three days in Munich, 2 x one day inner zone tickets and one Gesamtnetz ticket might be a better deal. This map shows all of the commuter trains (S-/U-Bahn) in the Munich metro area along with the tariff zones (colored areas). There are also trams - they run only in the inner zone - and buses, which run everywhere.

The Bayern-Ticket that James mentioned is valid throughout Bavaria - down to the Alps at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Fuessen, or Mittenwald or to Nuernberg or Rothenburg - as well as in all of the metro districts (eg, Munich MVV and Nuernberg VGN) in Bavaria. It is also valid to Ulm Hbf or Friedrichshafen (in Baden-Württemberg) and to Salzburg Hbf (in Austria, but not for transit in Ulm or Salzburg),
