I am having a hard time finding the best way to travel from Munich or Salzurg to Krakow. Money is an issue because there are 8 family members travelling together. Is there a discount airline like Easyjet or Ryanair that flys into Krakow(KRK)from Germany or Austria. Or is the train a good way to go. We could fly into Krakowice but it is still 2 hrs from Krakow I have heard. Any advice appreciated.

If you can fly into Krakowice cheaply, that might be ideal. Polish rail is pretty cheap, much cheaper than DB if not as clean or fast, so the extra train ride should not put a huge dent in your budget. Munich (or Salzburg) to Krakow directly by rail is probably too long of a ride.
