I'm driving from Frankfurt to Prague in April and would like suggestions on overnight cheap accommodation in Munich without having to drive into the city centre.

I don't have a specific lodging recommendation, but you may want to look in the area near the Nymphenburg. This area is more suburban, so parking should not be a huge problem, but if you want to visit the city center, you can easily hop on a tram.

Try Motel 1, just google it for the web site. It is a chain hotel so do not expect the world but it is clean and cheap.

Hostels in and around Munich are excellent but you can only use if you are under age 28.
