Multi-Country Rental Car Adventure

We are looking at renting a car in Munich and traveling to Lichtenstein (day trip) , Austria (2 days), and Czech Republic (2 days) before ending up back in Berlin to return the car. Do we expect any complications? I've read that we will probably need to get a toll pass while in Austria but can't find much else on the other countries. I've also seen that some companies might restrict going through Czech, any companies to target or avoid.

Finally, if we drive through the countries do you get passport stamps for those countries? Random fun question.

Thanks

No passport stamps. Czech Republic also requires a vignette, and if on your drive to Liechtenstein and back you should wander onto a Swiss motorway, that needs a vignette as well. And do confirm with rental agency that you will be driving in the Czech Republic. .

Any ideas on how to get passport stamps? I know it sounds dumb but it's important to some people in our party.

With the advent of the Schengen zone, no direct border controls, there are no stamps. You get stamped going into the Schengen zone and stamped leaving that is it. Make absolutely certain that the rental company knows exactly where you are taking that car and where to obtain the necessary stamps - critical !! Expect the car to have a GPS tracking device in the car. AND make sure you have your International Driver's Permit.

Your passport is a legal document, property of the United States State Department (sorry if I am making an assumption here).. Only authorized immigration officers of governments are allowed to make entries into passports. Since there are no authorized immigration officers at the borders between Schengen countries, there is nobody there to stamp it. The stamps are legal entries showing your entry and exit from the Schengen zone. Putting extraneous stamps in your passport can invalidate it. Passports are not souvenirs. Tell your friends that times have changed. If you want souvenirs, they're for sale everywhere.

For the most part you are out of luck on the passport stamps. I believe you can pay a small fee to get a Liechtenstein stamp if you go to the tourist office.
