Hello!
Flying VCE to LAX, connecting MUC. Venice to Munich on Air Dolomiti, Munich to Los Angeles on Lufthansa.
Is a 90 minute connection time in Munich enough time?
Thanks!
You miss out the vital piece of information which other posters of such questions also forget: Is this one through ticket or two separate bookings?
- If it is one through ticket it is the airline's problem to get you (and your luggage) on the second flight. They would not have sold you the ticket if they didn't think it was possible. And if the first flight is late and you miss the second, it is their responsibility to get you on the next available flight.
- If you have done two separate bookings, the connection is your problem. You may have to check in again and / or pick up your luggage and check it in again. In which case 90 minutes is dangerously short.
Air Dolomiti is a subsidiary of Lufthansa, and as such uses the same terminal, T2, as will your Lufthansa flight to Los Angeles. I believe non-Schengen flights, such as the one to LA, use a different level of T2 than intra-Schengen flights, so you will have to go through emigration when you change levels, but that shouldn't take you very long. Everything, of course, depends on your Venice to Munich flight being on time.
As Chris says, it will be a whole lot better if this is one booking, and you don't have to recheck yourself or luggage in Munich.
MUC consistently voted best airport to connect in EU. I've connected from Calif to Florence via MUC (Lufthansa/Air Dolomiti) more than once. Sometimes in less than 15-20 min, and didn't even have to run. If your incoming flight is timely you will have no problem. AirDolomiti is part of the Lufthansa Group.
