Has anyone visited this attraction? And if so, how did you reach it by rail?
You mean this one? http://www.titlis.ch/index.php?id=9258 http://www.titlis.ch/index.php?id=9255 This is new, so we haven't done it. But to get there, you would take the train to Engelberg (a spur from the Luzern to Brunig Pass line) and then ride a series of lifts, including the Rotair cablecar, up to the glacier on Titlis. A return ticket up Titlis is 86 CHF; the suspension bridge is free.
Thanks Lola! I'm going to give researching that a try! I have info on the Rotair gondola but not access to the bridge itself.
The Swiss put suspension bridges in some crazy places. There is one across the gorge below the Aletschglatscher that I keep threatening to try, but to be honest I don't like heights! I trust their technology totally, but I wouldn't want to be out on that thing when the wind blows.
Thank you! I am diligently trying to figure out the rail/lift transportation of that area of Switzerland from the Rick Steves' Switzerland guidebook. Are those train lines that you mentioned for accessing the Titlis bridge interchangeable with the Panoramic Pass from Luzern to Interlaken, with a detour at the junction to Engelberg (a spur from the Luzern to Brunig Pass line)? I'm wondering if this is too much time and effort or if I should stick to the Gimmelwald/Schilthorn stay/excursion for experiencing lifts that you already have listed in the book. Do you have an guesstimate on how long that Mt. Titlis bridge might be and/or if it would still be possible to do that and then continue to Gimmelwald in the same day to spend a couple nights?
