We are thinking about doing a motorhome trip through Germany, Switz, Austria and No. Italy. Any suggestions on motorhoming in the area. Good idea or ???? Thanks
"Marie, are you sure you don't mean the Dutch? Those Nederlanders love the RV." And they love driving the things into Germany, for some reason.
When we drove into Norway from Sweden a few years ago, we saw lines and lines of campers on the highway. Our Norwegian hotelkeeper told us, "Those are all the Germans, coming up here to camp."
"Good idea or ????" If you don't mind the fact that you can't drive one in cities in Germany and that many RV parks sit on rather dull pieces of land far from any sites....
I think it's almost a law that everyone in Denmark must have at least one small motor home. I see them all over Europe and I mean all over. That said I'd save motor homing for the U.S. Fuel is really expensive in Europe. Get a mid size car (not a big hunker that is a nightmare to drive on narrow roads). Go the B&B route, use E-Tap(sp?) or Ibis hotels. E-Taps are Europe's version of Motel 6 down a notch, clean though. Now motor homing in New Zealand...that's a winner!
Thanks to everyone's responses. We did a motorhome in New Zealand last November, that's why we're thinking of it again. New Zealand is a WONDERFUL place to go RVing. Just researching now about EU.
We did Germany by car 16 years ago and it seems I remember seeing RV parks along the Mozel? But that was 16 years ago and things change.
