Does anyone know, if is it feasible to get a flight from NYC to a major hub in Europe (London, Paris) then an inexpensive flight (if any) from there to Split??
I have found flights from NYC to Split for at least $1200 is this an average fare??

Last year I flew from Split to London Heathrow on Croatia Airlines using a Flight Pass from http://www.europebyair.com/efp/index.jsp
There are flights from both Heathrow and Paris CDG. Because of a change of planes in Zagreb it requires 2 of the Flight Passes ($99 each) and you will pay about $70 more in taxes and fees before boarding but it is probably the lowest fare you will find.

Croatia Airline lists a fare of about $291 for London to Split, nonstop, without the flight pass ordeal. You might find other budget airlines at www.whichbudget.com, too.

If you fly from London Gatwick, there are cheaper airlines available to Split (example $66 one way in June).
