I read the post about Alitalia and would like more information about what the problems have been. I took a direct flight with them last year from Miami to Rome and had no problems. I did carry-on only. We are traveling to Italy again this October and they have the best fare (and perhaps the only direct flight out of Miami). We are getting to the point where we need to purchase our tickets and I am wary after reading the other posts. Can anyone shed more light on this? Thanks, Jane
