We are going to buy the Swiss Pass for 4 days of travel in Switzerland. Our last day, we will be headed from Montreux to Venice. What will be the least expensive train route for that day? Will it be cheaper to use our Swiss Pass to get to near the Switz/Italy border, then buy another ticket to get to Venice? Never have done this before, would appreciate advice.

Ah, so you have decided on Switzerland plus Italy? Your route will go through Milan. Your Swiss Pass will cover as far as Domodossola in Italy, just over the border. Best buy a ticket for the rest of the way to Milan before you board the train in Switzerland. Show your pass and the agent will adjust the price. Then buy your ticket from Milan to Venice on Trenitalia now to get the best price. There may well be discount fares of 9 or 19 euros left for November travel.
