My wife and I will be travelling from Montrosso to Munich on June 3. My current plan is to leave Monterosso in mid afternoon for Florence, have dinner in Florence and catch the 10:09pm City Night Line for Munich. My original plan was to snag a saver fare and stay in a deluxe cabin. As I study the D-Bahn website, it looks like something is going on as there is a note that indicates that the train is "not bookable until further notice". Further, if it was, there haven't been saver fares offerred on that run for a long time. Without a saver fare, (and if the train was bookable) two people over 60 and a deluxe cabin would be 462 EUR. Two questions: 1) does anyone know what might be going on? 2) Any suggestions on alternative travel plans? I haven't found any flights from Florence etc reasonable for two people. I'd appreciate any ideas one might have. At this point, I really should get to Munich by the morning of June 4 as my trip plan continues from there and modifying all my hotels at this late date is not practical. thanks
I checked skyscanner.com which is a search engine that lists both budget airlines and national carriers. You could have dinner in Florence, spend the night, and take a non-stop Air Dolomiti flight to Munich, departing at 06:40 and arriving at 07:45.
AirDolomiti (part of Lufthansa) will have 3 daily departures from FLR to MUC: at 6:40, 13:00 and 17:00.
