Monaco to Cannes Travel Time for Cruise

My husband and I are stopping in Cannes on a cruise. We plan to see the Marc Chagall museum in Nice and try our luck in the casino in Monte Carlo. The ship leaves Cannes at 6:00pm. Any idea what time would we need to catch a train from Monaco to Cannes to make it back to the ship in time? We really don't want to take a planned excursion.

Thanks!

If the ship departs at 6, then all aboard is likely 5:00.

The train trip from Monte Carlo to Cannes is 1 hr 7 min. Then you'll need a taxi to the Cruise terminal- about a 10 min ride if traffic is ideal. So you'd want a train that leaves Monte Carlo no later than 3:40. You should check out the hours for the Casino. I think they only open around 2:00 pm. That doesn't give you much time when you factor in travel time to and from the train station.

The casino opens for betting at 2 pm but it is open earlier for tours. If you're only going with intention of playing a game or two then I don't think you'll have enough time.

Visiting both Nice and Monte Carlo will be very difficult. I vote hands down for your time to be spent in Nice.

Thanks so much for this info. We'll have to spend some more time planning this out.

I've just come back from a holiday just outside of Nice. We visited Monte Carlo for a day and to be honest there really wasn't much to see. We had lunch and visited the Oceanographic museum but despite the praise for the aquarium we were all underwhelmed, there are much better aquariums elsewhere. Had no desire to see the casino as it wouldn't interest any of us. Nice is by far the better option.
