milano to lugano

I did that exact trip a few months ago, and used the Malpensa Shuttle to Milano Centrale, and then train to Lugano.

Tickets for the Shuttle (Bus) can be purchased either inside the Terminal (machines or ticket booths) or directly from the Driver. The trip is about 50-minutes.

When you arrive at Milano Centrale, use one of the ticket machines or the ticket office (two floors down via moving sidewalks) to purchase tickets for the train. You may wish to research the departure times on the Trenitalia website, so you have some idea on your arrival time in Lugano.

The station in Lugano is a bit of a hike from the main part of town, so you might want to use a Taxi. There's a Funicular to the downtown area, but I found when arriving tired and with luggage, the Taxi was the best option. Which Hotel are you staying at?

Also there is an express bus service from the airport to Lugano. Reservations are required by the bus company before arrival at the airport. Reservations can be made on the "Star Bus" website.

Thanks so much. We will be staying in Gardia for the month of December. When we reach Lugano I guess we take a taxi or bus to the town. Sounds like a nice adventure Nancy
