What is the least expensive way to travel from Milan, Italy to Geneva, Switzerland in July? How much does it cost? How long does it take? Thanks!
There a few direct trains frommMilannto Geneva each day,,the first at 8:15 am. ,it takes just under 4 hours. The regular fare is 78€, but for July you may well be able to buy a smart Fare ticket for 22€ ( I saw then available for Julyb24 but did not check other dates). You should purchase soon on Trenitalia.com to get that discount fare.
Thank you very much for your reply. I checked http://www.trenitalia.com but I couldn't find tickets to Geneva. Does it sell international tickets, or just tickets within Italy?
Trenitalia will sell tickets for cross-border travel that starts or ends in Italy. To find the Milan to Geneva train, make sure you spell it Italian: GenevE. That will show up as a choice on the drop-down menu that appears after you type a few of the letters. The origin station will be Milano Centrale. The price will indicate 78€, but that is the regular fare. to see the Smart Fare, pick a train using the s e l e c t button. It will highlight it in red. Look down and you will see a " show other fares" option. Click that button and then hit Continue. The next page will give you the fare options, including Smart Fare. They are limited and do sell out. The next level is Smart 2, which is a bit more.
@Lola, Thank you so much for the info. I booked the tickets at Smart price. Thank you again!
Excellent! I am glad to hear that worked out for you.
