Thank you in advance for the advice.... I fly into Milan MXP on Monday, May 18. I believe I then need to get to the Central Station for a train south to Arezzo. What I'd like to know is if/how often/how much/how easy is it to get shuttle, etc from MXP to the Central Station. It seems there is a shuttle from MXP to another train station..
Gregg, the same question is asked three postings down. Just read it. You have a hour bus shuttle to the Central Station and a 30min train to the Cardorna station. The bus shuttle every 20/30 minutes with a fee of less than 10 Euro.
thanks frank. sorry you'd not know it but i thought i scanned the list pretty well, but clearly missed it.
do you think i'm safe just purchasing a train ticket from milan central station to arezzo once i arrive at the train station rather than online in advance? (to save the risk of having to guess which train i'd catch, i can just purchase at the station?)
Conventional wisdom for Italy trains is to purchase when you arrive. Italian fares are very reasonable if not cheap when compared to other train systems. There is only the Amica 20% discount available for advance purchase and there were some recent postings indicating that this discount was changing. I would go with the flexibility of getting to the train staton as quickly as possible and hopping on the next train. The shuttle bus will dump you on the SE corner of the station. A very long block walk to the front of the station so it will take few minutes to get inside. The ticket windows are on your right.
Brilliant, thanks Frank. Anything I need to know about finding the shuttle once I get through customs at MXP?
A question that just popped into my mind is if there is a train strike would this shuttle from the airport to central station be affected?
I would assume not since it is a bus and not a train.
