Middle name on passport but not ticket--help!

Hi everyone,

I am a novice traveler and am flying from Spain to Italy next month on Ryanair. I realized today that the name on my ticket is missing my middle name, while my passport includes it. (Ex. Jane Smith on the ticket vs. Jane Caroline Smith on the passport- Ryanair didn't have a middle name slot when I was booking and I didn't think to include it in my first name). Will this be a problem? I'm having trouble contacting Ryanair (they have only form questions on email and am trying to avoid paying international calling fees)- if anyone knows how to email them, it would be very helpful.

Thank you!

For the most part, middle names do not matter. The only time it is a potential problem is when the middle don't match. We make it a routine practice not to include middle names on any tickets.

Good advice, as long as first and last names match you'll be fine. I did have a misspelling of my middle name on a ticket once but that only took one question to sort out.

Middle names aren't as common in Europe as they are in the USA. Many people (including me) just don't have one, and they are rarely used. That is why the Ryanair site didn't ask you for one.

Should not be a problem. Some airlines' computer systems will only take so many characters for names. As a result instead of Joe Sam Jones it may appear as "JoeS Jones' or some variation. Happens to us every flight and it has never been an issue. TC
