Hi Everyone!
I don't really have a question. I just wanted to share our experince in taking the metro train in Madrid, Spain. I read RS book on Spain, and he actually didn't recommend taking the metro train. However, it was really easy and really affordable too! I think it's better than paying $30-35 Euro for a taxi ride.
We flew into Madrid on Friday, April 12th. I watched a few YouTube videos on the best way to travel from Madrid Airport and into the city center. Another great sourse of information, was "Spain Revealed" on YouTube. The author recommends taking the shuttle express bus, which is $5 Euro/person/way, and the shuttle express bus runs 24hours/day. When we arrived in Madrid, it was basically "commute" time. My husband looked at Google Maps, and if we took the airport express bus, it would have taken us just over 1.5 hr to get into town. Taking the metro train, 35 - 45 minutes. Moving people underground is much faster than dealing with city streets sometimes. Maybe when you arrive, it will be different, and maybe taking the airport shuttle express bus will be beneficial to you. For us, we decided to take the metro train. Follow the directions on "Spain Revealed" on taking the metro. You only need one "travel card" per family or per couple. We took the metro train, transferred twice (it was very easy) and got to Sol station, to go to Hotel Europa within half the amount of time. The metro train stations are all clean, and the signage is well labeled and things are also listed in English too. When we go back to Spain, I look forward to taking the Metro train again as a form of transportation. I would love to have a metro train system like that in Seattle, WA. Safe Travels!
