Can you buy at Metro Visite pass card for the 1-5 regions at the Charles de Gaulle airport after you have deplaned? I would love to have it then so that I can use it for RER to GdeNord and then metro to my hotel in Montparnasse. I know that I will need cash, no credit card. Thanks, JIM Falls
Yes, you can. However, a zone 1-5 Paris Visite pass may not be your best option. How many days will you be in Paris? What day of the week will you arrive and what day of the week will you depart? Do you plan to travel outside of central Paris (for example, to Versailles which is in zone 4) during your time in Paris?
The Paris Visite tickets are overpriced unless you manage to use a large proportion of the discount offers. It is possible to get a weekly Navigo Decouverte pass covering seven days, but these are only available for a Mon-Sun calendar week, not for any other seven day period. If you are arriving early in the week and staying for a few days it may be worthwhile. Otherwise even normal day passes in Paris are not especially good value. It is better to get a "carnet" (CAH-neh) of ten single-journey tickets. A day pass will not be cheaper than using these ten-packs unless you make more than five or six trips per day. Each single ticket from the carnet gives you unlimited transfers on a continuous journey by Metro or RER train, or by bus or tram, but if you change between segregated rail transport and road transport you need to use a new ticket.
