Message from Bahn

Need a bit of help please - booked my train on Bahn from Munchen hbf to Salzburg hbf several weeks ago - today I received this in my email "There have been some schedule changes made for the trip you have booked for 13.09.2019. Please refer to the current timetable for information on your planned travel connection.
Access current timetable -
Are they wanting me to select a new train - I have already paid for the current ticket

Exactly - how do I handle this?

Thanks

This happened to us with an Austrian train last year. There was one section with a bus substitute due to construction.

They are not asking you to re-book, just to be aware of some kind of change. It could be a bus link as we faced, or a schedule change, or some other change.

Take a look at the actual schedule for your train on the date of travel. It should show any changes.

The change could be departing earlier or later, or arriving earlier or later. If you're not making onward connections, then just showing up at the correct new time should be adequate. I have seen some similar notifications for train tickets booked through our site.

The train you bought is departing 30 minutes earlier from Munich due to work on the tracks. If you bought the 7:47 departure you need to be there earlier to catch it at 7:17. That has happened to me before. If you are still confused go to the train station the day before and talk to someone.

This is the note
runs not every day, 9. until 17. Sep 2019
Current information about your connection:
RJ 111: München Hbf->Salzburg Hbf: Construction work. Train is running 30 min. early. Please check for any changes to your journey prior to departure.

Actually, it looks like that train normally departs at 8:17, but now departs at 7:47. Is 8:17 the departure time shown on your original ticket?

There appears to be a construction project on the DB tracks between Munich Hbf and Munich Ostbahnhof. Normally, the 8:17 RJ stops at Munich Ost on the way to Salzburg, now it bypasses that station. All the Merdian trains to Salzburg, normally departing from Hbf, now depart from Ostbahnhof and to leave from Hbf you have to connect to Ostbahnhof on the S-Bahn. Normal schedule is shown in October.

Thanks to all - it is scheduled to run a 8:17 - I will show up very early.

Can I use my original ticket?

Yes, same train, they just moved up the departure time, so it would arrive at Salzburg at the regularly scheduled time. That train is continuing on to Klagenfurt.
