Meeting up in Barcelona (BCN)

Hello. I am flying into terminal 1 and my family is flying into terminal 2 and we both have checked baggage. Where is the best place to meet up in the airport? Thank you! (we're both flying in from Schengen countries, customs won't be an issue, right?)

So Max, you know what they say about "the best laid plans of mice andf men" ? A plan B would be helpful. Take along your cell phone and text each other. (cheapest option) Sign up for one of your carriers EU "calling plans", and you will have a fall back option in case you can not meet at your agreed upon location.

No, you should have no immigrations to go through, and a meeting place depends on how you are getting into town. If taking the train, then you will need to take the shuttle to Terminal 2 where the train station is. If by bus, then it will probably be easier still for you to head to terminal 2.

The Aerobus is a great way to get into town especially if your hotel is anywhere near Placa Catalunya.(and if not you can take a cab from there inexpensively). Whether you decide on bus or train, the easiest place for you to meet is at T2. For the bus, you could meet near the bus s top for the blue Aerobus ( I believe the stop is marked in blue). To get there from T1, you would use the free shuttle between terminals, which is Green. You cannot transfer between terminals on the Aerobus, as the one serving T1 does not stop at T2, and vice versatile. So use the green shuttle.

Be aware that Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are not really close together. Yes, they located at the same airport but you need to take the free shuttle between the two terminals. No walking distance here. As Lola notes, the Aerobus from Terminal 1 oddly does not stop at Terminal 2. Conversely, if you choose the train station to get to the Barcelona Sants train station (which we have done), the train station is at Terminal 2. Again, as Lola suggests, have your arrivals at Terminal 2 shuttle over to Terminal 1 for the meeting unless you are taking the train into the city. If you are taking the train (the Aerobus is better), do the opposite.

There is an (A2) from T2 as well. Same route, just serves the other terminal. So if they are taking the Aerobus into the city, they could meet at either terminal, but is seems simpler to have one person transfer than the whole rest of the family.

Some of the "right" answer depends on where you need to get to. We stayed near Placa Catalunya, so the Aerobus seemed like a good option. You may be staying somewhere else that is better reached using other busses or trains. You can also consider meeting downtown depending on the better transportation options. Even though we landed at Terminal One, the Aerobus was still a pretty good hike from our gate. Maybe your gate will be closer. If you find yourself walking a long way, however, you may not be lost.
