Five of us are flying into Heathrow and are split into two parties. And I'm looking for the best meeting place, so we can go into London together. My daughter is flying Icelandair to Terminal 1 at 11:45 a.m. I'm flying Delta into Terminal 4 at 12:05 p.m. scheduled. We'll take the Piccadilly tube line into London. It appears that it's easier for me to go from Term 4 to Term 1 than vice versa. So, I'm thinking we will meet at Icelandair baggage claim at Term 1. Is this the best plan or does someone have better suggestions? I don't think we will have phone connectivity in London. Thanks for your suggestions.
You can ride free on the Heathrow Connect train between Terminal 4 and Terminal 1. Since you can't guarantee that either of your flights will be on time, I suggest that you all meet at the Underground station that serves Terminals 1-3. Give each other some enthusiastic hugs and then jump on the first available Piccadilly Line train.
Bill, The baggage claim is in the secure area so you won't be able to meet your daughter there. You'd need to be outside of the exit from customs on the international arrivals level in T1. I think Tim's suggestion to head to the Heathrow 1-2-3 tube station is a good one. The directions to the underground are well marked and your daughter should be able to find it easily. However, I'd also suggest that you have a backup plan in case someone's flight is significantly delayed. I've had more than a few delayed flights into Heathrow. Perhaps decide if one party has not arrived by a certain time, the other party will head into London and choose a second meeting place such as at your hotel.
Wow! I never thought about the baggage claim being in the secure area. It's international! Thank you. Yes, we'll meet at the Term 1-3 underground station. I don't remember what it looked like from a previous visit, but it shouldn't be too difficult....just act like we're ready to board the train and wait for the other party. Yes, the backup plan, one party will go to the hotel, and the late party will call the hotel and give them a message. It's a small place and I've used them before, so they'll be responsive. Thanks folks.
