We will be arriving at Malpensa Airport on October 1st and the ticket counter will be on strike from 9-5. How do we get our train tickets to Milan Centrale when we don't know if our plane will arrive on time?
I guess you can always take a taxi.
Can you not purchase your ticket at a kiosk with a credit card? RonInRome.com has pictures and instructions on how to work the machines. Or, go to Trenitalia.com and print them out?
Suz,
These are your options:
- You can purchase your tickets at automated kiosks @ the airport.
- Take the 'Malpensa Shuttle' bus to Milano Centrale: http://ticketonline.malpensashuttle.it/_en/
- Pre-purchase your train tickets online. You need to know that these tickets are nonrefundable, prevalidated, & are valid for 4 hours. You may want to refer here for more information:http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en/Purchase/Regional-online-ticket-and-passes
- You can always take a taxi, but this option will be more expensive.
Hope this helps!
I see from Priscilla's link that the shuttle bus from Malpensa is now €10 per person. Do be aware that there are two companies running shuttles, and they don't cross-honor each other's tickets (each company leaves twice an hour, and the ride takes about an hour).
Before there were trains from Malpensa, I always took the shuttle bus - it's fine.
A taxi is a fixed rate of €90: http://www.milanomalpensa-airport.com/en/directions-and-parking/by-taxi (below the phone numbers, you'll see where to get a taxi and the rates, along with a PDF of the rate sheet you can download or print).
