maiden voyage oin royal princess from Southampton,UK

Gentlemen" My husband and I are flying from Newark,nj,usa to Heathrow in June for a cruise, 2 questions: we want to take the train from heathrow to southampton, is this easy? and, we have heard it is very hard to get a cab from the hotel, Holiday Inn Express on Botely Rd. to the pier, it is only about 7 miles, are the cabs really that busy, and charge extravagant prices? Thank you

Getting to Southampton s fairly easy. You take the tube or a taxi into London and take the train from there. Have the hotel arrange the cab. Should not be a problem.

The easiest way to get from Heathrow to Southampton is to get a National Express bus from Heathrow to Woking station which is on the main line from London to Southampton. At certain times of day it may be faster to get the bus all the way. Check at www.nationalexpress.com for buses and www.southwesttrains.co.uk for the train.
