Hola! My family and I are going to visit Madrid for a month next spring. We are very big on living like locals and using public transit and walking. I am checking the metromadrid.es site and also the crtm.es site and am a little confused. Can a non-resident purchase a Madrid Travel Card (we would need a 2-zone month's pass)? Does the Travel Card cover ALL forms of public transportation within those zones (bus, metro, suburban rail) or would we need to purchase the pass just for the metro and then a separate tickets/passes for bus or rail? What is the age to qualify for a Youth Travel Card? Thanks for any and all help or info!
P.S. - I am NOT referring to the TOURIST TRAVEL PASS/CARD that you can purchase for Zone A or Zone T for a certain amount of time, up to 7 days. This is the TRAVEL CARD that can be for Zone A, B1, B2, etc... Just thought I would clarify. Thanks!
You should check the Madridman website, www.madridman.com. He is an American living in Madrid, and there is a ton of information there. There is also a forum where you could ask him your question directly.
Thanks Nancy, but I did already. He was one of the first places I checked. Unfortunately, his page on transportation focuses on shorter stays, so he talks about the Tourist Travel Pass which you can get for us to 7 days for a little over €30 (for Zone A). That means we would need 4 of those. The Travel Card to which I am referring to is €52 for a whole month (for Zone A). So you can see why I am interested in that. The difference is quite substantial. Thanks though for the suggestion!
Re The Madrid Man Site --- He has a 'forum', question and answer section on the the site. Post your question on it and I am sure you will get a response, just as I have in the past.
As HJ said (as did I).... www.madridman.com has a forum where you can ask him your question directly. He is very responsive to anyone who emails him.
That is a great idea. I will do that! Thanks! :)
