What's the best train from Madrid to Bilbao? Is flying an option?
Train is 5.5 hours with no train changes. A rule of thumb used by some experienced travelers is: if you can get there by train in less than about 6 hours, take the train instead of flying. This link will give you train schedules: http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en
Because there's no discount airline competition on this route, Spanair and Iberia charge an arm and a leg....130 Euro and up, one-way. Since you're under the 6 hour rule, take the train instead.
I should fly. It will take one hour and may be very cheap (depending on the day less than 80€). For anything you need you can e-mail me
([email protected]) I live in Bilbao and like helping people have a good time in my city. It is also a good chance for me to improve my English.
Gerardo revived a post that is over 4 years old, apparently to offer his services as a guide. I don't think Mitch is wondering how to get there any longer.
