Researching to book a flight for October and our return flight shows a our from Granada with Iberia to Madrid to Chicago with a 45 minute connection time..
Can this be done? comments?

Looking at the Ibreria site and a Granada-Madrid-Chicago for a random date in Oct, I see a connection time of 2.5 hours.
What are you looking at that has just a 45 minute time?
I doubt you could make a 45 minute connection as you have to get from one terminal to the next and go through passport control between flights.
