Hello everyone, this is my first post, I searched all over for info on this but had no luck. My wife and I are making our first trip to Europe this October and we are trying to nail down a train itinerary from Avignon to Venice. We think we have it nailed but our trip takes us through Geneva via a "Regional Express" train (RE 96510). This is a 2 hour leg and I don't know anything about these trains. The photos I found online looked more like inner city subways than trains. My main concern is that they will be uncomfortable for 2 hours, we were hoping for a nice scenic route. Any of you guys taken this train or had experience getting from Avignon/Arles to Venice? Thanks for any insight!
Took the route from Lyon to Geneva a few years ago. The regional trains are not uncomfortable and two hours is not long on them anyway. The sceneray as I recal is not particularly spectacular. The Alps are further east and south. I just recall a pleasant trip. I assume you go from Geneva through Lucerne - then the sceneray becomes something to write home about!
