Hoping for advice on which train route to take when traveling to Varenna. Italy from Luzerne in late June.

Beth, The train that I'd use on that route is a departure from Luzern at 07:47, arriving Varenna at 13:24 (time 5H:37M, one change at Milano Centrale). There are numerous other departures at various times, with either two or three changes. If you'd like to leave a bit later, there's a 09:18 departure, arriving 15:24 (two changes). On the trip from Milan to Varenna, BE SURE to validate your ticket prior to boarding the train, or you could face a hefty fine which will be collected on the spot!
