If you are traveling from Luzern to the mountain top Rigi Kaltbad - take the boat from Luzern to Vitznau and hop right onto the cog railway. We made the mistake of getting off at Weggis and after finding out that both taxis were out of town and engaged, no bus or shuttle to the cable car, we foolishly decided to attempt the walk to the cable car station. We walked steep uphill for about an hour (posted as 15 minutes) with me pulling luggage and cheering on my husband hobbling with his cane. As we huffed and puffed up the hill to avoid another 50 step stairway, I asked a resident if we were on the correct path. Seeing our plight, the kind Samaritan offered us a ride to the rear of the cable car station where there was a lift to get us old seniors up to the cable car entrance. We are eternally grateful to the kind Weggis gentleman who was repairing his motorcycle just below the cable car for taking us up the last steep incline! We should have waited an hour to get back on the boat to get to Vitznau! Now we know and have lived to tell our story, LOL!
