Luzern-Interlaken Express confusion!

I read that this train was the way to go when traveling to Luzern from Interlaken (ost?). I am trying to figure out...

  1. How to find the time tables and how to make a reservation or buy a ticket, I’m not seeing it on the Zentralbahn site, if that is even the right place to look? Or perhaps I’m blind?

  2. I am thinking we are going to buy the Swiss Pass once we land in Zurich, just because I’m tired of trying to figure out which train pass is the best deal, if a deal at all. I guess I will spend the big bucks for convenience sake ( I think?) Does the Swiss Pass cover this route? If not,is the Half Fare card the way to go? Neither?

Thank you for any help you can give me!

The schedule is at www.sbb.ch/en. Just put in Luzern to Interlaken Ost. It is the only train between them and it goes once per hour. Nobody in Switzerland spends the 5 CHF extra for a seat reservation. The trains are expensive enough as it is.

Whether to get a pass, really and truly depends on your plans. If you plan on using the gondolas and other transportation in BO a lot, the Swiss Travel Pass, the half fare card, or the BO pass may be a decent deal or at least break even. If you plan to do Schilthorn and/or Mt. Rigi in Luzern, it would also probably be a ok purchase. Do you have a list of what the passes include? Also, ditto the comment that its easy to get from Luzern to Interlaken Ost, and that a seat assignment would rarely be necessary or advised.
