What is the best way to get to Trier from the Luxembourg airport?

Bus into central Luxembourg and train to Trier: the trains are about hourly and not overpriced even if you book on the day. The only drawback is that it's a city bus that stops many times going into the city and has relatively few seats, not an express coach. I did look into a shuttle service direct from the airport to Trier but the price I was quoted was, by my standards, ludicrous.

the least expensive way is by bus to Luxembourg train station from LUX airport (every 10 mins on weekdays, 20 mins on Saturdays, every 30 mins on Sundays), 25 min. journey in very clean modern buses at an affordable EUR 1.50. From the station, the train to Trier is a 50 min travel once an hour. happy journey!
